Athikadavu -Avinashi project was proposed 65 years ago and the foundation was laid in 2019. The Athikadaavu-Avinashi water supply cum irrigation scheme diverts 1.5tmc of surplus water from Kalingarayan Annaicut across the Bhavani river to various water bodies in various drought prone regions of Erode, Tirupur and Coimbatore districts. The total benefitted area of the project is 25000 acres of land and the total Length of the canal is 133.5 kms.
